As the new president of the Chamber of Commerce, I would
like to make a commitment to the business community to actively use this
organization to act as an advocate for business. Much has been done in the
past year under the very capable leadership of Karen Lowe in terms of
establishing a bridge between our organization and the Business Improvement
Area. We
all have many of the same interests so it makes sense that we work together
for the betterment of all. I would like to continue to strengthen the
relationship with the BIA as well as other groups, including the Municipality
of Kincardine. I will be making appointments, talking to people and assessing
what it is that we, as a small Chamber of Commerce, can contribute to the
positive development of our business community. My own personal goal is to
accomplish two or three small
projects of worth including at least one dandy fundraiser, since like everyone
else, we are operating on a shoe string budget. However, there are no
problems, only solutions - corny, but true if you look at it from the right
perspective. We have a truly dynamic group of people on this board who are
committed to the business community of the Municipality of
Kincardine, and we have a new general manager - Kelly Lush. In the short time
she has been with the Chamber, Kelly has already proven herself more than
capable for the job. She's a dynamo and I'm sure if you
haven't met her, she will make a point of getting around to as many of you as
possible. As we get ready to celebrate this wonderful season and say good-bye
to the old year, on behalf of the Chamber of Commerce, the best of the season
to you and yours, and may you prosper, in every way, in 2008.
Sincerely,
Marie Wilson
President,
Kincardine & District Chamber of Commerce
